How a text match turns into a conversation

  1. Choose text

Follow any account prompts and start in text mode. The matching flow can look for a partner without asking to use either device.

  2. Open with an easy question

When the chat opens, a question about music or a recent film gives the other person room to reply. Avoid putting your phone number or exact location in the conversation.

  3. Leave or report when needed

Return to matching if you want to meet someone else. Use the app’s reporting controls if someone sends abuse or pressures you for private details.

Write a first message that is easy to answer

A short question with room for an opinion usually gives the other person more to reply to than a greeting alone. Choose a topic that keeps private details out of the conversation.

A first message with an easy choice

Try “Would you rather pick the music or the movie?” It is specific, leaves room for a joke, and works without sharing your name, where you live, or your plans for the night.

The conversation has gone quiet

Give the other person time to type. You can ask one short follow-up if the topic is working, then leave the chat when you are ready to move on. Avoid sending repeated messages or following them to another service.

A link or a request makes you uncomfortable

Leave the link unopened and keep your contact details private. If you receive abuse or suspicious requests, look for report or block options on the chat or profile. You can end the conversation without a reply.

Common questions

Does text matching need camera permission?

No. Text matching can run without camera or microphone permission.

Can I choose a particular person in random text chat?

The matching system pairs you with someone. Browse the online list if you want to pick a profile first.

Do I need to answer right away?

Take a moment to read and decide what to share. If the other person pushes for a quick answer, you can leave whenever you are ready.

Can I keep a text conversation private by deleting a message?

The other person may already have read, copied, or captured the message. Keep sensitive details out of the conversation from the start.
