Set up both sides of a webcam call

Check your frame
Put your camera near eye level and move private details out of view. If you have an external webcam, select it in the browser’s device controls.
Choose a person and review the prompt
Open a profile, choose the video call option when available, and read the call prompt. The person can still be busy, decline, or miss your call.
Use your call controls
Check what the other person can see or hear when you enter. If the call fails or you want to leave, end it before changing modes or trying again.

Read the two camera feeds separately

In a cam2cam call, your preview, the other person’s picture, and the audio can fail independently. The feed that is missing tells you where to start.

Your own preview is dark

Check your camera shutter and room lighting, then verify which device the browser selected. A bright window behind you can darken your face even when the camera is working. Try moving the light in front of you before changing settings.

You can see yourself, but the other picture is missing

If your own preview works, your camera is already providing a picture. Give the other feed time to connect. It may be off or affected by their permissions, device, or connection. End the call before retrying if it stays blank.

End the current call before changing how you chat. Open voice matching if you want to use only your microphone, or text matching if you are somewhere you need to stay quiet.

What if I prefer to leave my camera off?

Try voice matching for an audio conversation, or use text matching if you would rather type.

Do both sides share one camera permission?

Each person’s browser controls its own camera. Granting camera access on your side does not enable someone else’s webcam.

How do I choose the person on the other camera?

Open the online list and choose a profile that offers a call. Random video matching is a separate route where the service pairs you with someone.
